About This Course

The objectives of this course are to: 1) Study the meaning of Islam, Sharicah, Fiqh and distinction of Sharicah with Fiqh and Sharicah with man-made law. 2) Explain the historical development of Islamic law from the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w until the emergence of major schools of thought (madhahib). 3) Discuss sources, characteristics, foundations/principles and objectives of Islamic law. 4) Discuss main branches of Islamic law and the application of Islamic law in Malaysia.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: 1) Describe the meaning of Islam, Sharicah, Fiqh and distinction of Sharicah with Fiqh and Sharicah with man-made law. 2) Outline the development of Islamic law from the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w until the emergence of major schools of thought (madhahib). 3) Point out of the sources, characteristics, foundations/principles and objectives of Islamic law. 4) Specify the main branches of Islamic law and application of Islamic law in Malaysia.

The course deals with the basic knowledge of Islamic Law such as the meaning of Islam, Sharicah, Fiqh and distinction of Sharicah with Fiqh and Sharicah with man-made law. It also deals with the historical development of Islamic law from the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w until the emergence of major schools of thought (madhahib). Furthermore, it discusses briefly sources, characteristics, foundations/principles and objectives of Islamic law. It also covers the discussion on main branches of Islamic law and application of Islamic law in Malaysia.

There are 3 modules to complete the Certificate Series, participants are encouraged to complete all 3 before attending Live classes for module 5 and 6
